It was on this day 15 years ago that I spent the longest day of my life at work.  That work day was interminable.  Worse was the two hour wait between the end of the work day and the showtime of the viewing to which I purchased tickets a week prior.  All was still in front of us at that point and the Prequel Trilogy was still full of potential.  On May 19th, 1999, Star Wars Episode I:  The Phantom Menace opened in theaters and the rest is awkward CGI history.

Wish you were there, but can’t make it?  Here’s the next best thing.  Attractions Magazine has uploaded a video of the entire parade to their YouTube channel.

The action figure aisle at my local Toys R Us has restocked.  I sat down in the aisle and cried.  Were they tears of joy or tears of frustration?  You’ll have to click through to find out.

We’ve linked to several articles recently that indicated that second unit photograph has already started and that principal photography would begin around today’s date (I checked those reports and they were pretty close give or take a few days).  Anyway, the Bad Robot Twitter account made it official by tweeting out the below image under the hashtag #dayone

This commercial for Star Wars Weekends spoofs many of the spousal gift exchange commercials, but ends with every Star Wars fan’s dream gift.  She don’t look like much, but she’ll get you where you’re goin’!

It looks like this is shaping up to be a video game Thursday.  TekRevue has compiled a list of the 10 worst Star Wars video games ever.  I bought two of them.

I could by cynical about this, but I’m not.  The fact that Andy Serkis is “extremely excited” about his upcoming role in Episode VII has me excited.  I’m getting to the point where I need to devise some sort of Eric Cartman like scheme so I can freeze myself until December 2015 to avoid the wait.

Wedge Antilles actor Dennis Lawson has turned down a role in Episode VII because it would “bore” him.  Perhaps he will spend his time looking at scrimshaw instead.

Amid reports that Disney and Lucasfilm were struggling with crafting a mass audience acceptable Boba Fett movie (booooo!), The Inquisitor reports that Metalocalypse director John Schnepp confirmed that the Boba Fett movie is not only going forward, but that it has been written by Lawrence Kasdan and is already in pre-production.

The English language Adu Dhabi news site The National has reported some high level details about the set construction for Episode VII as well as some of the goings on around the desert shoot location.  There may be some very minor spoiler information contained, but nothing more than would probably be revealed in the first full trailer.  Things are starting to sound Star Warsy.

The hosts for Star Wars Celebration 2015 in Anaheim, CA have been announced.  James Taylor is one of the hosts.  I hope he sings Fire & Rain.  What’s that?  It’s not that James Taylor?  Good.  I hate that song Fire & Rain.
